Wensleydale Workshops

09th November 2015
Learn to photograph Wensleydale with local landscape photographer - Mat Robinson. With years of experience in photography and 4 years experience of teaching groups of various sizes - you couldn't be in better hands.

This workshop is intended to take in a bit of everything this largest of dales has to offer. A precise itinerary will be dependent upon the weather but the intention will be to visit a waterfall or two before finishing with a big view from one of the hillsides around Hawes. Potential locations include: the Buttertubs, Cauldron Falls, Aysgarth, Pen Hill, High Abbotside, Semerwater, Addlebrough, Ellerkin Scar, Redmire Bank, Harmby Force and many others. These workshops will be half day workshops with the option of additional tuition on the processing of the images - something many find useful as understanding layers and layer masks is a key part of my workflow.

Places will be limited to 3 people per workshop and will be aimed primarily at beginners - those wanting to get to grips with their camera in this most central of dales and learn to make the most of some amazing locations whilst they're at it. Those with more experience who would like some input on improving their composition and eye for an image are also very welcome and should find this workshop equally useful. The workshops will be roughly 4-5 hours long, dependent on conditions, and will involve some walking - but shouldn't be too strenuous.

The cost for the workshop alone will be £99 but you're welcome to book the additional processing tutorial for a total of £125. The secondary tutorial can be taken from the comfort of your own home via Skype in the following days - and can be very useful in terms of understanding merging photos and exposures to get the best out of the photos you take on the day. Group discounts may be available too, contact me to find out.

By participating in this workshop you will learn how to make the most of both the well known locations - creating something original from an over-photographed view - along with exploring some new locations and learning to understand why they work at certain times of year. The waterfalls of Wensleydale have been photographed a million times, but that doesn't mean that they can't be photographed better than before - a cliche can always be improved upon.

You will be responsible for bringing your own lunch/snacks/drinks and insurance is not provided. If the weather is particularly bad then more time may be spent with the waterfalls rather than taking in the grand vistas, but hopefully this will be avoided.

Rather than the group workshop, you're welcome to book this as a 1-1 tutorial on a date of your choosing. This would cost £120 for the workshop alone and £145 for the workshop plus processing tutorial.

If you'd like to book your workshop just drop me a message with your preferred date and I'll organise payment. Gift vouchers are available and come with a free greetings card.
