I grew up in Richmond, North Yorkshire, before studying Physics & Astrophysics at the University of York followed by a PhD in Inflationary Cosmology in Sheffield.

I've spent a large part of my life trying to understand the universe and its natural beauty - and in the three places I've lived I've never been far from obvious examples of this - from the Yorkshire Dales, to York and then the Peak District. Throughout my childhood I spent plenty of weekends exploring the old mining areas and streams of Swaledale - giving me a taste for the outdoors which has now grown into quite an obsession. I can only hope that some of my photos can do justice to this beauty found in northern England. I don't think there is any other feeling quite like being alone on the top of a mountain in freezing fog/wind/snow waiting for the few moments when the sun breaks through and illuminates the surrounding landscape. Safe in the knowledge that few, if any, others will ever witness the same view in the same conditions. To capture any of the feeling I get from being in such situations would constitute a small success on my part - so I hope you like what you find either here or on some of my other pages in the links section.

I have many years of teaching experience - both academically with my PhD and also in terms of photographic workshops and tutorials. So whether you're an individual or interested in a group workshop - you can be sure you're in safe hands in getting the most out of the day.

Print info - and other smallprint
Please read all of the following before purchasing prints. For any special requirements just use the 'contact me' form before ordering as certain types of mount or size could allow for either a discount or an additional payment.

- Standard prints bought from here will be printed on high quality Fuji Crystal Archive paper (guaranteed to last 75+ years) by either DS Colour Labs, Peak Imaging, Digitalab or Photech.

- The standard mounting option uses 2mm white card. The image will be printed with an additional white border and stuck on - using the card as backing. In some cases it is also possible to purchase a front, window mount in addition to the backing for the additional cost price.

- Prints will automatically be sent direct from the printers to your address, cutting out the double delivery cost of first coming to myself before being shipped on to you. If you'd prefer it to come to me first, to be signed, in many instances this will incur an additional cost. Unless otherwise specified, prints will come as a matte version rather than gloss.

- Panoramic images will be printed such that their longest side will match that of the more conventional print size. As such, the overall dimensions will be slightly smaller than an equivalent 3x2 print. In the same way, square prints will be slightly smaller than the equivalent 3x2 ratio.

- Canvases are purchased from TradeCanvasPrint.co.uk and are laminated to ensure longevity. It is possible, however, for me to order unlaminated canvases from a different supplier for a lower cost - so please contact me if this is of interest to you.

- In addition to the options found below each image, a large range of other products are either available, or can be looked into. Just use the contact form to get in touch and I'll try and arrange for whatever it is you want to be created.

Some ideas may include the following:
- Cards
- Acrylics
- Framed Prints
- Posters
- Mugs
- Mousemats
- Other Sized Prints

- Please note, prices include delivery within the UK. Buyers from outside the UK are advised to contact me before placing an order as I can't offer refunds for packages sent abroad. If you'd like to pay extra for recorded delivery, this can be arranged.

- Paypal is the primary and recommended method of payment - although if you'd prefer to pay another way just contact me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

If you're interested in using any of my work for personal or commercial use then get in touch and I'd be happy to discuss licensing options.

Fine Art Prints

Fine art prints will come on museum standard paper, with the following quite wordy specification: "A slightly textured loose weave heavyweight art paper. Mould made, pH neutral and very thick. High gamut volume and low colour error makes this the choice of most fine art print labs. The textured surface is suited to landscapes wildlife and pictorial images."

I will also have the image shipped to me first in order to be signed before sending it on to you.

So if you're after something a little more special than the standard print, then these are for you!
